Ethernet cables are prevalent in homes and offices for LAN internet access over Wi-Fi. Their preference is due to their quick speed and lower latency. But the recent advancement in technology has not left behind the Ethernet cables also; there is currently a better communication cable ideal for faster data transfer.

Ideally, the cables should be labeled on the outer surface. If you have handled the previous cables, cat-6 cables are thicker and less flexible in nature. Since the invention of cable twisting by Graham Bell in the 19C to reduce the cross talk, the practice has been carried to date.
Both Cat-5 and Cat-6 cables are twisted but at different intervals. Whereas Cat 5e has not more than two twists every centimeter, cat 6 has more than two for the same interval. However, the measurements given are only standard values as the twist length, or range differs with each cable manufacturer.

The typical internet user may not demand the Cat-6 cable. Nevertheless, when networking your home and you think the cables will stick there for some time, it is wise to use the faster and broader bandwidth cables-Cat-6.
